Joyeux Noel

Dress: Wet Seal
Shoes: Sears
Necklace: Valentine's Day gift

Joyeux Noel, mes poupées! C'est un peu tard.

I totally did not get to post on Christmas like I had planned! It is now the 28th, and I'm finally posting my Christmas outfit. The dress was actually one of my presents, but I had picked it out on Black Friday and already planned to wear it for the holiday. haha
I'll tell you one thing though; it was no picnic taking pictures outside in this outfit. x_x Man, was it freezing!

As far as the day goes, I had a great Christmas. Both of my grandparents were in the hospital though, so that was really depressing. I went to see my grandma, and she was just so weak and so sad that she had to be in the hospital for Christmas. :( It broke my heart.
I got to spend the morning and evening with my parents and brother, though, which is my personal favorite part of Christmas. My boyfriend came over in the evening for our tradition of watching A Christmas Story as the last thing of the day. It was a wonderful evening spent with the people that mean the world to me.

And I will never forget the reason we celebrate Christmas. God's son was sent to Earth, and while it may not have been December 25th, Christmas is a symbol of that gift --- the greatest gift of all. The baby Jesus was born to be a light to the world. I know He has touched my heart in many ways. I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Christmas, and if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope your day was full of happiness anyway.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas....

This is holiday makeup I did. (Obviously, it is over the top and conceptual. More for the sake of makeup as an art, and not a look to be worn on a normal day. lol)

Merry Christmas, everyone!!!
This is technically my "Christmas Eve" post, but since it is 2:15 AM right now, it is officially Christmas 2013. I'm going to try to post again tomorrow as well. (: I love holiday blog entries!

That dress was actually my Christmas present from my boyfriend LAST year. But I'm making it a tradition to wear it every Christmas Eve. It is the most special gift I have ever received. My boyfriend skipped the last day of school before break last year (my high school senior year) to actually MAKE that dress for me. He sewed it, guys. I had said I wanted a fluffy "Santa" dress like the Varsity Singers at my high school used to wear, so he decided he'd make me one. It was absolutely sweetest thing ever. <3 That's why this dress is so special to me. Isn't it sad, though? I'm the fashion design major, yet my boyfriend can sew better than I can. xD haha

This year he got me another dress (a bought one this time). It's an adorable lacy peplum dress I had been eyeing. It was another gift that shows he pays attention to what I notice and like. (: Only thing is, they were out of smalls, so he got me a medium.
............It is way too big. Bless his heart, it was such a nice gift, I don't want to tell him. (He cut the tags off too!) I know it'll make him sad. But the thing is, I still love the fact that he remembered that I had loved that dress considering it was over a month ago that I saw it. It just makes me feel happy that he noticed something as small as that. <3

I guess my stories are kinda long winded for this post, huh? And all about mushy romancey boyfriend stuff. Well, tomorrow I will try to write about Christmas and family stuff!
It is super late now. I should definitely go to sleep before Santa skips over our house! Wouldn't want that to happen. No siree.

The Eve of Christmas Eve

Sweater, Boots, Jeans: Wet Seal
Necklace and Earrings: Icing

Hey guys, guess what? Tonight is Christmas Eve Eve!! :D haha

Today has been a mixed sort of day. I was incredibly stressed out this morning because I was cramming so much into today. (And one of those things was paying my spring tuition bill. Writing a check for $6k is not an enjoyable experience. -__-)
But afterwards I went to an ice arena with a group of my friends. My friend, Emily, who lives in North Carolina is in town, and ice skating is what she wanted to do. I can't exactly say how I felt about it. I had never gone ice skating before, and I am one of the least graceful people I know. I basically hobbled around with my arms flailing. lol But I'm glad I can say I've had the experience now, and that I spent the time with close friends. <3 That is what's most important: making memories with people who mean a lot to you. We all came back to my house for hot cocoa afterwards and watched Jim Carrey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas (my personal favorite Christmas movie).

So all in all, the day ended up being a really enjoyable one, despite the rocky start. I can't wait for the festivities that begin tomorrow! But I still have a few more gifts to wrap, so i guess I better get off the computer! Ta ta for now!

Ohio, it is not spring.

Look at these sopping wet leaves. -__- Mix of fall leaves and spring wetness.

Beret: Forever 21
Shirt: Hot Topic
Dress pants and shoes: Thrifted
Bracelet and earrings: Claire's

Well it is December 22nd, and 60° Fahrenheit in this wonderful state I live in. I do not approve. I mean, if it was February, I would be ecstatic for this weather, considering I'm usually sick of snow by then. But right now I WANT snow. It's almost Christmas! These pictures look like they were taken on a rainy fall day, not 3 days before Christmas. And since it's supposed to drop into the 30s tomorrow, I foresee a lot of ice and treacherous roads. This is not okay. *sigh* I just hope there is snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and that the roads are decent. I hate it when Christmas is brown and wet.

On a more positive note, I am almost done with everything for Christmas! I just have to wrap presents and finish my boyfriend's Christmas card (which I think is coming out cute). I can't wait! But I won't rush it. Unlike when I was a child, I like to savor the holiday season and everything that comes with it: family, friends, movies, songs, hot chocolate, food, presents, advent, and of course, the Christ child. This is my favorite time of year, and I feel so blessed for all that I have! I try to thank God for my blessings every day, but even more so during the holidays.

It's such a warm and fuzzy time of year. <3

Owl Always Be Here

Sweater and Leggings: Gabriel Brothers
Snow Boots: Sears
Ear Cuff: Icing
Lipstick: Nyx Black Label Lipstick in "India"

I have been nonstop busy since I got back from college! There's so much to do before Christmas, and so many people to see.
I saw my oldest, and one of my two closest, friends today. We've been friends since I was eight, and she lives right down the road. She goes to college in Pittsburgh, so ever since August, we've seen very little of each other. It's really weird after how many years we've been just a short, 2 minute walk from one another. So tonight I went to her house and we caught up. She's not enjoying college at all. She likes her classes, but is not enjoying the social/personal aspects, mostly due to people and drama. I feel really bad for her. And I thought I was the one that wasn't enjoying college the way I should be.

I'm really glad I got to hang out with her and catch up though, along with Ashley, another one of our friends. We watched Footloose (the newer one) and talked and ate popcorn. (: It wasn't anything super special, but I preferred it that way. It was just like old times. We're going to get together a couple more times over break. I've missed her a lot.

I guess I don't have a lot to say tonight. It's 2:00 AM, so I should really be sleeping, but I have a lot on my mind right now. Not all bad though. Just a lot.

Mater Dei

Dress and Shoes: Mark
Necklace: Dots
Tights: Kohl's

So today at church I presented an art piece I was asked to create by my pastor. Since the theme of the service today was Mary, I decided to make her the subject of my piece. (You can see it above if you haven't figured out that's what it was already. lol) I did it in colored pencil and acrylic paint.

The piece is meant to be right after the angel, Gabriel, tells Mary that she will give birth to the Christ child. I tried to portray her as a young girl (which she would have been) of about 15 or 16. I also tried to show the conflicting emotions she surely would have felt. She was very young, and despite the fact that it was normal for young girls to get married and have children, was probably very afraid. She was supposed to be virgin, and she must have been sure that Joseph would leave her for her supposed "infidelity". That is why she is crying.
But she is also smiling. This is because she had a strong faith in God, and knew He would guide her through what was to come. And that no matter what, she would try to be a loving mother and create a good life for the child she was destined to bear. In the end, Mary accepted her role in God's plan. She accepted it with gladness, thus calling a smile to her lips.

That's the gist of what I said in church when I got up to present. I just thought it would be nice to write it down and share it with the world on my blog as well. I hope it may have spoken to you in some way if you read all of this.

The cold never bothered me anyway.

Can we please just talk about this movie? >>>>

So this is not a fashion post. I'm not even pictured in this post. But guess who is? The wonderfully gorgeous ELSA!!!

I went to see Disney's Frozen this past Saturday and oh. my. gosh. It was breathtaking! I have been stalking this movie since I first saw the preview with Olaf (the snowman) and Sven (the reindeer) back in July or August. The Snow Queen is a tale by Hans Christian Anderson, and is one of my favorite fairytales ever. The character Elsa is loosely based on the Snow Queen, so I knew I HAD to see this movie. Now Frozen does not actually follow the storyline of Anderson's original story at all (Kai and Gerda aren't even characters in Frozen), but it doesn't matter one bit.
The movie was INCREDIBLE! Anything, and I mean anything, that has to do with snow and/or ice magic makes me swoon a little inside. Ice magic is my ideal power in a fantasy realm.

My favorite Disney princess has been Pocahontas for as long as I can remember (with Ariel and Belle tied as close seconds), but after all these years, I officially have a new favorite princess. Or should I say queen? The beautiful Elsa completely captivated my heart, and has stolen the spot for my #1 favorite Disney character. And that is no easy feat, believe me.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet, but if you haven't seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it! It is one of the best movies I have personally seen in a long time. I love how Disney continually brings out the child in me. <3 (As if I don't like countless childish things. lol) But Disney seems to do it for everyone. Almost everyone can embrace the magic of Disney and say hello to their inner child. Don't you think so?
