Changing Clothes, Changing Life

Dress, Belt, Necklaces, and Hat: Forever 21
Boots: Dailylook.com

Wow, practically everything included in this outfit is from Forever 21. haha But then again, I bought everything but the hat in the same shopping trip last year with the intention of it going together anyway.

It's funny to look at this outfit though. This white dress is one of my favorite things to wear, but about 6 years ago I wouldn't have dreamed of wearing white, and pink, and lace! From about the ages of 13-15, I went through sort of a scene, punk, goth phase. I wore mostly all black, red, and some neons. I wore black eyeshadow, heavy eyeliner, and studs and/or skulls on everything. But I guess I was at the age where I was adjusting to adolescence and trying to find my own style personality.
As of now, my style has done a complete 180. I adore pastels, lace, and floaty materials. Nautical themes are another one of my loves (so white, red, blue, stripes, anchors, etc.) It's so funny to think how much my style has changed. I still quite like things with a victorian goth or steampunk aesthetic but I wouldn't refer to my style as scene, emo or punk at all anymore.
I actually don't know what I would call it. It's just me, I guess. 'Cause as I look into my closet right now, I see a plaid mini-skirt, a floral circle skirt, a black skull and rose prink "kimono", the floaty white dress above, and a black dress with multi-colored lips printed on it (an extreme contrast to the white dress). And that is just to name a few garments.
My style is all over the place. I like to dress according to my mood and emotions, and since those are always fluctuating, my style has to as well!

That is just what was on my mind as I looked at these photos. It's always fascinating to see how your looks, style and personality changes over the years.

Garage Sale

Dress, Belt, and Flats: Sears
Necklace and Bracelet: Vintage

This past weekend my family had a garage sale. I wore this on Friday, the first day of the sale. I know it may seem a little dressy, but I dress up half the time anyway, and since strangers were going to be coming in and out of our driveway all day, I figured I'd look presentable. (Plus, this dress is actually super comfortable!)
As for the garage sale, we didn't do too bad. We got rid of a lot of large items that were just taking up space, such as an old rocking chair, 2 sets of tires, an old TV, and a huge box of my brother's old baseball cards. Then of course numerous small items were bought as well. I don't know know why, but I enjoy having garage sales. I get to sit outside with a cup of tea and people watch on my own property! haha The setting up and the tearing down is a lot of work I could do without, but it's really not so bad. My mom did a lot of the setting up herself, though, because I was so busy last week!

I'm helping her take it down today though, so I best get off the computer!

Dandelion Wishes

Dress: Dots
Maritime Wheel Necklace: Forever 21
Flats: Marshall's

This is a really simple outfit. A daisy patterned dress with flats is really all it is. But sometimes simple is nice when it comes to summer fashion. I love to just toss on a simple sundress when it's hot out. It's really comfortable to me and also looks really cute at the same time! And of course a beautiful day like the one pictured above also contributes to the overall attractiveness of one's outfit. ;)

My mom gets a cameo in this round of photos. She takes most of my pictures for me and is very rarely in photos herself. So I took the liberty of taking one while she was petting Ornery (our cat)!

I don't have a lot to say today. The interview at Kohl's went well I think. (I hope.) But they are conducting interviews all through this week as well. So it will be a little while until I hear anything one way or the other.  After thinking about it for a while, I realized I DO really hope I get the job at Kohl's. So let's keep our fingers crossed!

Summer's End?

Tank Top: Kmart
Shorts: Forever 21
Necklace: Elessa Jade
Earrings: Six
Purse: Charming Charlie

This outfit is featured in one of my videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYGj3aJ7IbY

So my summer may be pretty much over in a couple of weeks. At least as far as free time goes. I have had a job at Six, an accessories store in the mall, since the end of April. However, the hours are really strange. MOST weeks I only work 4-8 hours, although last week I worked 16 hours. I absolutely love the job, but since the low hours don't make a ton of money, I decided to try and get another part time job.

And.......I have an interview with Kohl's in 3 days. I applied there at the beginning of June, so I expected I wouldn't hear anything since it's been so long. But apparently I was wrong! So I may be getting a second job. And on top of that I am taking College Writing 2 starting on July 14th. It's just a basic class that I figured I would get out of the way this summer, so I could focus on more fashion classes.

So if I have 2 jobs and am taking an English class I will be extremely busy. The carefree days of summer will be over. I have really mixed feelings about it. I need to learn to support myself better and be more like an adult. Plus I need to start saving up for studying abroad, if I choose to go to Paris. (And of course, college is just expensive in general.) But I'm also nervous about being under a lot of pressure and not having any free time.

Well..... I guess I just have to go to the interview and see how this all pans out. Maybe I'm a better juggler than I think!

Summer's Flying By

Tank: Old Navy
Flowy Cardigan Thing: Dots
Skirt, Sandals, Necklace, and Bracelet: Forever 21
Earrings: Six
Lips: Nyx Extreme Lip Creme in Nude Peach Fuzz

So yet again I fail at being consistent on this blog. >_< I do have two Youtube channels that take a lot of time and they are generally my first commitment. However, they do not allow me to just write whatever I want after I share outfit pictures.  So that's why I still show up here.

It's been over a month since I came home from college. I really wish I could say I miss it, but honestly..... I'm kind of neutral about it. I never had a lot of friends there. There were people I really liked and talked to in class, but nobody I hung out with outside of class. There were 2 great girls though, that I do miss: Lauren and Ashley. They were the only ones I felt I connected with on more than just the surface (aside from my roommate, but we've been friends for 9 years). Making connections has always been a weak point for me. It takes me months to establish a bond with someone. I'm very shy and sensitive. I wish I was outgoing, but alas, I am not. At all.
So that's why I don't miss college much. I didn't have connections with my peers to bind me to the campus emotionally. I'm hoping next year will be different, even though I'm commuting.

I have so much I want to talk about from the last month of summer, but I don't want to make a mammoth wall of text on one post. So I will share with you some less sad "I can't make friends" kind of stories in my next post. 'Cause I'm honestly not sad right now, even if the paragraph above sounds a bit melancholy. I'm just reflecting on my feelings about leaving campus life for the first time.

Much love dolls,

The cold never bothered me....... but the warmth is nice too.

Dress and Bracelets: Wet Seal
Sparkly Heels: Payless
Scarf: Christmas present from Joshua
This outfit reminds me of something Elsa (from Disney's Frozen) would wear when it is warm. The icy silvers and blues still give a nod to her wintery powers, but the lack of sleeves and short skirt make it warm weather appropriate. 'Cause I mean, if she's able to wear that less than cozy looking gown in a palace made of ice on top of a snowy mountain.......then the heat must really difficult to handle.

But honestly, can we talk about that scarf. Isn't it gorgeous? It's the piece that inspired me to create this ensemble. It was a Christmas present from Joshua (my boyfriend) that I hadn't yet gotten to wear. I'm so glad I was finally able to coordinate it. As soon as I opened it on Christmas Eve it instantly reminded me of ice. I adore it. <3

In life news, I am moving out of my dorm today. I had a final at 7:45 this morning, but now I'm done. It's really weird. Next year I'll be commuting, so I won't ever see this room again. Nor will I be on campus nearly as much. I was never a huge fan of dorm life, but there are a few things I'm going to miss. Like walking downtown on a whim when it's warm. Or being able to run to Prentice to grab a coffee before (or after) class. I admit, I'm kind of sad.
But the choice to commute was one I thought about extensively. I live 40 minutes away, which isn't a great commuting distance, but it's not awful either. Some people drive an hour or more just to go to work each day. And financially....this is the best choice. My roommate, who is my best friend from high school, also chose to commute. And of the 2 girls that I'm actually kind of close to, one is not returning to this college and the other is living in an apartment now....

I guess this is just a start of another year in my life. I don't know what awaits me in my future. I don't feel like an adult. But I hope that I will be able to move forward and start to follow my heart.

Much love, dolls

It's Baaaaaaaaaaaaack.

Blouse: Thrifted
Shorts: Dailylook
Tights: Target
Oxford Heels: Payless
Lips: Nyx's round lipstick"Decadent"

Yes, it looks like winter outside, and my outfit looks like fall. Yes, it is April 15th. Yes, it was 70 degrees yesterday. But Ohio is a troll. And just when you think spring has arrived..............this state throws you with 3-4 inches of snow. And yes, it stuck. -__-

I really wish I was a more consistent blogger and would have had pictures of the last few days! Then you could really see the contrast. But alas, it has been a month since I posted, and it was snowy on March 12 (the last time I posted) as well.

I've been extremely busy lately. After spring break all of the final projects were poured onto us. There's only 4 weeks of classes left, but man, are these 4 weeks going to be tough. I have a final project in Fashion Visuals due in 2 weeks that my group and I haven't even started yet, on top of the design journal for the same class. I have the final portfolio of Foundations of Fashion Drawing due soon. And we still have another whole sewing project to do in Basics of Apparel Construction. *sigh* Just gotta buckle down and muscle through it I guess!
