The cold never bothered me....... but the warmth is nice too.

Dress and Bracelets: Wet Seal
Sparkly Heels: Payless
Scarf: Christmas present from Joshua
This outfit reminds me of something Elsa (from Disney's Frozen) would wear when it is warm. The icy silvers and blues still give a nod to her wintery powers, but the lack of sleeves and short skirt make it warm weather appropriate. 'Cause I mean, if she's able to wear that less than cozy looking gown in a palace made of ice on top of a snowy mountain.......then the heat must really difficult to handle.

But honestly, can we talk about that scarf. Isn't it gorgeous? It's the piece that inspired me to create this ensemble. It was a Christmas present from Joshua (my boyfriend) that I hadn't yet gotten to wear. I'm so glad I was finally able to coordinate it. As soon as I opened it on Christmas Eve it instantly reminded me of ice. I adore it. <3

In life news, I am moving out of my dorm today. I had a final at 7:45 this morning, but now I'm done. It's really weird. Next year I'll be commuting, so I won't ever see this room again. Nor will I be on campus nearly as much. I was never a huge fan of dorm life, but there are a few things I'm going to miss. Like walking downtown on a whim when it's warm. Or being able to run to Prentice to grab a coffee before (or after) class. I admit, I'm kind of sad.
But the choice to commute was one I thought about extensively. I live 40 minutes away, which isn't a great commuting distance, but it's not awful either. Some people drive an hour or more just to go to work each day. And financially....this is the best choice. My roommate, who is my best friend from high school, also chose to commute. And of the 2 girls that I'm actually kind of close to, one is not returning to this college and the other is living in an apartment now....

I guess this is just a start of another year in my life. I don't know what awaits me in my future. I don't feel like an adult. But I hope that I will be able to move forward and start to follow my heart.

It's Baaaaaaaaaaaaack.

Blouse: Thrifted
Shorts: Dailylook
Tights: Target
Oxford Heels: Payless
Lips: Nyx's round lipstick"Decadent"

Yes, it looks like winter outside, and my outfit looks like fall. Yes, it is April 15th. Yes, it was 70 degrees yesterday. But Ohio is a troll. And just when you think spring has arrived..............this state throws you with 3-4 inches of snow. And yes, it stuck. -__-

I really wish I was a more consistent blogger and would have had pictures of the last few days! Then you could really see the contrast. But alas, it has been a month since I posted, and it was snowy on March 12 (the last time I posted) as well.

I've been extremely busy lately. After spring break all of the final projects were poured onto us. There's only 4 weeks of classes left, but man, are these 4 weeks going to be tough. I have a final project in Fashion Visuals due in 2 weeks that my group and I haven't even started yet, on top of the design journal for the same class. I have the final portfolio of Foundations of Fashion Drawing due soon. And we still have another whole sewing project to do in Basics of Apparel Construction. *sigh* Just gotta buckle down and muscle through it I guess!

Asian-inspired Beauty

Chinese-style dress: Thrifted
Black pumps: Elder Beerman
Lips: Maybelline Color Elixir in "Signature Scarlet"

Well, it is obvious that I fail at the whole blogging game. It's been a month since my last post! x__x But this semester has been so crazy, that I barely have any time for any of my own personal hobbies. I haven't drawn a single thing for myself in months. (Believe me, I HAVE been drawing. A LOT. But it's not soothing when it's for class.) I miss being able to let my creative juices flow and draw whatever comes to my mind.

In addition, I have been terribly stressed lately. I have been agonizing over my major, and my family is going through a bit of a crisis at home. I didn't want my blog to be riddled with only negative things. This blog is more than just a spot to complain or have myself a pity party. So that is another reason I haven't been posting.

However, I have found the time for an entry now, so let's talk about this outfit!
I absolutely ADORE this dress. It is probably the best thrift find I have ever some across. I love asian inspired fashion, whether it is inspired by traditional dress or modern asian street style. So when I saw this dress for a whopping $6.00, I knew it had to be mine. It's incredibly well made, and was probably pretty expensive to begin with, so I feel so lucky to have found it. <3
Seriously, guys, thrifting is amazing. The thrift stores around my hometown aren't the greatest, but sometimes I come across a true treasure, such as this dress. And that keeps me coming back to look again. I recommend thrifting to everyone! It takes some patience, but you can acquire some beautiful and/or unique pieces in the end.

Ohayocon 2014

This is me cosplaying as C.C. from Code Geass with a guy who was cosplaying Lelouch, the anti-hero of Code Geass (and my favorite anime character ever). So I was super excited to get this photo.
THIS is Vic Mignogna for those who don't know. He is one of the most inspirational people to me personally. One of the people that I gain more confidence in myself and who I am when I listen to him. And after meeting him, I can see how obviously kind he is. I love this picture<3 It's so fun and commemorates something that's been on my bucket list for a long time.
THE DEALER'S ROOM. Let the nerdgasm begin.
THOSE KITTY PLUSHIES!! <3 I didn't buy one though. T-T
Miguel and Tulio! Tulio and Miguel! Mighty and powerful gods!
These two were cosplaying Tulio and Miguel from The Road to Eldorado! That was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid! (It's still up there. lol)
Studio Ghibli films were my first real step into anime (as in, I actually was aware that what I was watching was Japanese animation), so I was super excited to see Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service and No Face from Spirited Away. <3
Walked into a cave. Nothing but Zubat.
I don't even know what this is. xD I just thought it was hilarious. lol
This guy's Gameboy costume was actually playable. The guy in front is playing Tetris. How cool is that?!
I got a picture with Totoro! Even though his eyes are kinda creepy.....
These two guys had amazing Iron Man costumes! I can't imagine how long they took to make and how much material they required!
A whole group of Frozen characters! (My favorite Disney movie.) Plus a Jack Frost. lol
Elsa before AND after she "let it go". (lol I'm punny.) Thought the girl dressed as coronation Elsa was really unique. I didn't seen anyone else cosplaying as Elsa in that dress the whole weekend.
My friend, Ashley, and I. :) We had such a blast at Ohayocon!

This is only a fraction of the photos I took. I took 60+ photos!
I just wanted to share a little of the amazing time I had. It was seriously the best weekend I've had in college thus far.

Do you know why snow is white?

This past weekend I went to Ohayocon in Columbus with the KSU Anime Society.  I love love love anime, manga, and Japanese culture. I am a true nerd and proud of it. :3

The outfit you see me in above is the cosplay I made for the convention. I went as C.C. (pronounced like C2 and not Cici)  from my absolute favorite anime, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. It was my first cosplay, and I am SO proud of how it turned out. I bought the white shorts for $5 at Charlotte Russe, I made the arm warmers out of an old pair of plain black leg warmers, the boots were black and I spray painted them white and used gold acrylic for the decorations. And the main part, the top with flowing "tails", was just a plain black long sleeved turtleneck. I completely altered it and made it C.C.'s Black Knights uniform. At the con I had countless people ask me for pictures and 5 people ask for a hug. It let me know that I did well on this costume, which meant a lot because I worked on it over the course of my whole winter break. <3

I'm going to make another blog post with actual pictures from the con, so I don't want to talk too much about it, but I will say that it was one of the best weekends I've ever had! I was surrounded by so much positivity and energy and by all the things I love so much! I even got to meet someone I've been waiting to meet since I was 12: my favorite voice actor, Vic Mignogna! :D (And I got his autograph!)
I desperately want to go again next year, and I really want to go to Colossalcon in Sandusky this June. Maybe it will happen. Who knows?

Stay tuned for pictures from Ohayocon!

A Slacking New Blogger

Shirt, Jeans, Boots, Bracelets: Wet Seal
Earrings: Icing
Necklace: Gift from my boyfriend
Lips: Mark's "Ice Princess" (one of my favorite lip products)

It has been over a week since my "end of 2013" post. I am such a slacker when it comes to this blog! I really need to get into a better routine so that I can post more consistently. I take pictures, but then I never get around to uploading and posting them. Take the pictures above, for example. I took these over almost 2 weeks ago! But am just now posting them. *sigh* I promise I'm going to try and get into the groove of blogging! That's one of my resolutions for 2014.

The outfit above is actually one of my favorite outfits ever. That shirt is my favorite clothing piece I own. The color, the sparkles, the deer, the fair isle print, and did I mention the SPARKLES?! I can't get enough of it. And even though it is truthfully more of a holiday shirt, I will were it all through January with pride!

I just finished my first week of the new semester, but I'll talk more about that later. It's been really stressful, mostly because of money. Between books and the endless lists of supplies that fashion design classes demand, I am going to be pretty broke for the next few months. x__x

Au Revoir 2013

I put more effort into this makeup tutorial than I had in any other video prior to it. It was an entry into the NYX Face Awards 2013. I didn't make it into the competition (because it was largely a popularity contest), but I am still so proud of this look and the video accompanying it. It really helped my makeup and video editing skills grow, so I am glad I did it.
My senior prom. I have never felt more beautiful than I did that night. I felt like a bona fide princess. The dress I wore and the masquerade theme made the night so magical. I will never forget it.
I saw the ocean for the first time in 2013. I went to Myrtle Beach with my boyfriend and his family. In all of my then 18 years, I had never seen the ocean. I also took my first helicopter ride and my first trip to an aquarium!
These two pictures show more growth in my makeup artistry skills. I love doing makeup almost more than anything. Both makeup and fashion are my true passions.
Hanging out on campus on a warm October day. This was my first time actually hanging out with anyone at Kent (even though two of them came up from my hometown).
Christmas 2013

I know this is a really late "End of the Year" post, but this past week has been a whirlwind of activity. But I still wanted to make sure I made a post to reflect on this past year.

2013 brought a lot of firsts with it. My first time entering a large, national competition (although I didn't make it), my first time to the ocean, my first time on a helicopter, my first time at college, and my first time losing a grandparent.

I started my freshman year of college in 2013. The first semester went really well, although at this point in time, I can't tell you how I truly feel about college. I'm very shy. I don't really have any close college friends, aside from my roommate. I definitely prefer being at home to being on campus. I just wish that at the end of the day I could come home, rather than to a dorm room. But I'm hoping the spring semester brings more change with it, and that my outlook on college will improve. And that I'll be able to strengthen relationships with people and make more friends.

I want to grow as a person. I want to expand outside of my comfort zone, but it is so hard for me. I'm always so afraid of rejection or failure. But I want to find the strength to push past that. My hope is that 2014 will allow me to stretch my wings and that I'll be able to will myself to fly.
